We aim for and achieve excellence across all aspects of our services. Our commitment to person-centred care is clear across everything we do and extends to building strong relationships with our residents and their families.

We always achieve the top rating of 5 for food hygiene. All of our food comes from local businesses and is served fresh. Rafters Greengrocers have won greengrocer of the year for two years running nationally and the provide our home with the most fantastic local fresh fruit and vegetables. They even supply a beautiful fruit basket to our employee of the quarter! We change our menus regularly to make the most of seasonal produce and we involve our residents in the decisions about the dishes that we serve. We take great care to ensure we meet the specific dietary requirements of all our residents and we organise taster days so they can try new ideas.

We place great importance on our programme of activities. The events and activities are designed to promote physical and mental wellbeing, with plenty of variety because we recognise that not all residents enjoy the same things or can take part in everything.

Some of our activities are planned, others are spontaneous. Our residents enjoy baking and bingo, film nights and fund-raising. We bring in musicians to perform favourite songs from years gone by and we get out the travel books so residents can tell us their favourite holiday memories. Singing every week with Tony is always a favourite! We organise arts and craft sessions, which include helping residents decorate their care plans. Quizzes and physical exercise sessions are also popular.

The benefits of such a fun and varied activities programme are immense. It helps us find out what our residents want and enables us to improve our services to them. By ensuring our residents are happy we can protect their health and wellbeing and reduce the need for medication. We are a family business and we extend family values to our residents and their own families, seven days a week.
